NEW WORK-Ambiguous Self

Lesser's most recent body of work, Ambiguous Self, portrays the beauty, challenges and struggles of self acceptance.  As a young man living in a large city, Lesser has a clear, honest and blunt expression of this lifelong pursuit.  The paintings speak of sexual ambiguity, promiscuous activities, and societal pressures associated with self image. The fine line between lust and love blurs throughout this body of work, as it does in real life.  This portfolio of work poses the question, can we find self acceptance and personal satisfaction from within, or is it derived from materiality and body image?  The paintings beg for our full attention and celebrate the human body but also make us shy away and look within.  Lesser reminds us that while something may be beautiful and pristine on the outside, we must not forget to seek truth and beauty on the inside.
